Getting here from Royal Palm Beach
Our office is at 12957 Palms West Drive, Suite 204, just off Southern Boulevard, which puts most Royal Palm Beach addresses ten to fifteen minutes away. Patients coming from Madison Green and La Mancha usually take Southern west; those closer to Okeechobee tend to come down State Road 7 and cut across. Parking is free and on site, which matters more than it sounds when you are coming in for a short session on a lunch break.
Because laser hair removal is a series rather than a single visit, convenience is part of whether a plan actually gets finished. Saturday hours from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM exist for exactly that reason, and they are unusual among physician-led practices in Palm Beach County.
Why the device and the wavelength matter
Laser hair removal targets melanin in the hair shaft, converting absorbed light into heat that disables the follicle's growth structures. The safety margin depends on the contrast between hair pigment and skin pigment, which is why one wavelength cannot serve everyone well.
The Candela GentleMax Pro Plus carries both a 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength, efficient for lighter skin, and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG, which penetrates deeper and is absorbed far less by epidermal melanin, making it the appropriate choice for medium and deeper skin tones. Its Dynamic Cooling Device delivers a cryogen burst just before each pulse, protecting the epidermis so effective settings can be used comfortably.
For Royal Palm Beach patients with Fitzpatrick types IV through VI, this is the practical difference between a practice that can treat you safely and one that should decline. We select the wavelength and settings at each session based on your skin, your hair, and how the previous session went.
The schedule, and why it is set by biology
Hair cycles through active growth, transition, and rest, and only follicles in the active phase can be effectively treated. At any moment a fraction of the follicles in an area are in that phase, so each session captures a portion of them. That is why a series of six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart is standard, with facial areas at the shorter interval and legs, back, and chest at the longer one.
Crowding sessions closer together does not accelerate the result; it just treats resting follicles that cannot respond. We schedule around your cycle and revise as your series progresses, rather than selling a fixed package on a calendar that ignores how your hair is behaving.
When facial or abdominal hair points to something else
Patients who come in for persistent facial, jawline, or lower-abdominal hair are sometimes describing hirsutism, which is a clinical finding rather than a cosmetic complaint. Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most frequent cause, and thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance, elevated prolactin, and certain medications also produce it.
Dr. Frisch is a board-certified endocrinologist, so when the pattern suggests an underlying driver, it is evaluated rather than treated only at the surface. It also changes the laser plan: androgen-stimulated follicles need more maintenance, and patients whose driver is never addressed tend to plateau. Treating both together produces a more durable result.
Preparation, recovery, and realistic expectations
Shave the area the day before or the morning of your visit, and avoid waxing, threading, or plucking for four weeks beforehand, since those remove the target the laser needs. Skip deliberate sun exposure and self-tanner for two weeks before each session. Afterward, expect a mild sunburn sensation with some redness and follicular swelling that settles within hours to a day, then a shedding phase over the following one to three weeks that is often mistaken for regrowth.
Most patients notice thinning after the second or third session, with remaining hair returning finer and lighter. The honest description of the endpoint is permanent reduction rather than permanent removal: treated follicles that respond do not regrow, though hormonally driven areas may need occasional maintenance. White, grey, and true blonde hair lack the pigment the laser targets and do not respond, and we will tell you that at the consultation rather than after you have paid for a series.
Photographs shared by our practice are unretouched and reflect individual results. Plans are quoted in writing at consultation, and your physician gives you the full plan and the full cost before anything is booked.
