The Endocrinologist Behind Aesthetic Metabolism™: How Dr. Anna Frisch Is Bringing Hormone Science to Cosmetic Medicine
For more than 26 years, Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD, has studied how hormones run the human body.

For more than 26 years, Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD, has studied how hormones run the human body. Now the founder and Medical Director of Palm Beach Cosmetic Medicine in Wellington, Florida, has given a name to what that career taught her about skin: Aesthetic Metabolism™.
A term born in the endocrinology clinic
Dr. Frisch is Board Certified in Endocrinology, fellowship-trained, and the author of more than 40 publications. She built her reputation in thyroid and endocrine medicine at Palm Beach Thyroid, Endocrinology & Wellness, where patients come to her for some of the most complex hormonal questions in medicine.
Over thousands of patient visits, she saw the same pattern. A shift in thyroid function showed up as dry, dull skin or thinning hair. Perimenopause changed skin thickness and hydration. Blood sugar and stress hormones left their own marks on the face. The skin was telling the endocrine story, often before the patient had words for it.
In October 2026, Dr. Frisch introduced a term for that connection. Aesthetic Metabolism™ is the way hormones, thyroid function, and metabolic health express themselves in the skin, hair, and the body's response to cosmetic treatment.
"Skin is one of the most hormonally active organs in the body. Many cosmetic concerns have no hormonal component at all, and some do. My training lets me recognize which is which."
Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD
Why an endocrinologist sees skin differently
Skin renews itself, builds collagen, produces oil, grows hair, and heals on signals sent by the endocrine system. Thyroid hormones help set the pace of cell turnover and the hair growth cycle. Estrogen supports collagen and hydration. Insulin and blood sugar influence how collagen ages. Cortisol affects healing and the skin's protective barrier.
This is the science Dr. Frisch has practiced for her entire career. Many cosmetic concerns are purely cosmetic: sun exposure, genetics, and time account for much of how skin ages. Some concerns carry a hormonal signature, and an endocrinologist is trained to see it. Aesthetic Metabolism™ gives patients a name for that second group and helps explain why two people can receive the same treatment and see different results.
Aesthetic Metabolism™ in practice
At Palm Beach Cosmetic Medicine, Aesthetic Metabolism™ is one of the lenses Dr. Frisch brings to treatment planning, applied where it is relevant to the patient:
- Injectables. Dr. Frisch personally leads and performs injectables, including BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, Xeomin®, DAXXIFY® and SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM®.
- PRP. The Root Cause Hair Restoration Protocol™ and the Regenerative Glow Protocol™ are designed and supervised by Dr. Frisch.
- Laser, microneedling, and HydraFacial. Each is designed and supervised by Dr. Frisch, then selected and timed for the individual patient.
- Skin health at home. ZO® Skin Health and VitellaMD nutraceuticals support each plan between visits.
"I coined Aesthetic Metabolism™ because patients deserve a clear way to understand what I see every day. When you understand how your hormones and your skin work together, your choices about cosmetic care become far more informed."
Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD
One physician, a complete picture
Palm Beach Cosmetic Medicine is a cosmetic medicine practice, and most visits begin and end there. When a patient's concern does point to a hormonal question, Dr. Frisch's wider practice family provides the answer. Evaluation and treatment of hormone, thyroid, and weight concerns take place at Palm Beach Thyroid, Endocrinology & Wellness for in-person care and through Frisch Integrative Medicine for telemedicine.
That continuity is rare in aesthetic medicine. Patients in Wellington and across Palm Beach County have access to a physician-owned med spa where the Medical Director's first specialty is the system that governs how skin ages.
