What PRP hair restoration is

PRP uses a small sample of the patient's own blood. It is processed on the EmCyte PurePRP SupraPhysiologic system, an FDA-cleared, closed-system concentrating device that produces a supraphysiologic platelet concentration and removes more than 99% of red blood cells. The concentrate is then placed into the scalp.

Platelets carry growth factors that may support follicle health and scalp vitality. PRP is one option for early-to-moderate thinning, and it may be combined with other treatments depending on what is driving the loss. It is not a cure for hair loss, and individual results vary.

The question most PRP providers skip

Search for PRP hair restoration near Wellington and most options treat PRP as a standard protocol with no diagnostic step in front of it. The blood draw happens, the injections happen, and nobody has asked what the scalp is responding to.

Thyroid imbalance, PCOS, perimenopause, and chronic stress are common, well-documented contributors to hair thinning, and they are easy to miss without that step. Because Palm Beach Cosmetic Medicine is physician-led by Dr. Anna Frisch, MD, PhD, a board-certified endocrinologist, these factors are considered as part of the evaluation before a PRP plan is finalized.

This is the same reasoning behind our article on why PRP underperforms elsewhere, which looks at preparation quality, missing evaluation, and the absence of a schedule as the three usual explanations.

What a PRP hair plan at PBCM looks like

Dr. Frisch designs and reviews the Root Cause Hair Restoration Protocol for each patient. Treatment itself, meaning the blood draw, the PRP preparation, and placement, is delivered by the credentialed clinical team working to that protocol.

PRP may stand alone or be combined with other support depending on what the consultation uncovers. If an internal contributor is identified, addressing it is part of the plan rather than a separate conversation. The full program is described on the Root Cause Hair Restoration Protocol page, and the broader service overview lives on our PRP Hair & Skin Restoration page.

Is PRP a fit?

PRP tends to work best for early-to-moderate pattern thinning where follicles are still active. It is one of several options rather than a universal fix, which is exactly why the evaluation step matters. Some patients are better served by a different starting point, and that is a reasonable outcome of a consultation.

A consultation is the most reliable way to find out whether PRP, a broader hormonal work-up, or a combination is the right place to begin. Candidacy is determined at that visit, and results vary from patient to patient.

Preguntas Frecuentes

How is PRP hair restoration at PBCM different?
The protocol is physician-designed. Dr. Frisch, a board-certified endocrinologist, designs and reviews the plan, hormonal and thyroid factors are considered as part of the evaluation, and the treatment is delivered by our credentialed clinical team using the EmCyte PurePRP SupraPhysiologic system.
Can hormones or thyroid problems really cause hair thinning?
Hair changes may be influenced by many factors, including thyroid function, PCOS-type patterns, perimenopause, stress, postpartum changes, nutrition, and weight changes. Our physician-led approach allows us to consider the broader picture when appropriate.
How many PRP hair sessions will I need?
It varies. PRP is typically performed as a series followed by maintenance when appropriate. The exact plan depends on your goals, your baseline, and what the evaluation finds, and it is discussed at consultation.
Is PRP hair restoration painful?
Most patients describe mild discomfort and tolerate the treatment well. Topical numbing is used, and downtime is minimal, though temporary tenderness or sensitivity at the scalp is common.
Does PBCM publish PRP pricing?
No. PRP plans are personalized, so pricing is discussed at consultation rather than posted. Flexible monthly Care Plans are available and can be reviewed at that visit.
